The Shekinah Angel of Rosslyn.
John Ritchie explained this Angel to me.
She begins the Roslin Angel Cycle, and represents the Shekinah, female aspect of the Metatron – the voice of God.
In the book Rosslyn Revealed By Alan Butler and John Ritchie, they show how this Angel opens the library of stone and leads the pilgrim through the cycle of Angels to the first great mystery of Rosslyn.
To ancient astronomers the angel Shekinah was symbolic of a conjuntion between Venus and Mercury in the heavens. Her raised hair symbolises Venus – the morning and evening star. This conjunction may have been the star of Bethlehem. The Shekinah is the herald.
Once a year at the Autumn equinox the light of venus fills the only remaining original piece of the main window in Roslin chapel – a small apeture filled with a red crystal, possibly ruby, that intensifies the light so that the whole of Rosslyn is filled with an intense red light that illuminates the attendant souls on their journey toward winter and the cycle of the green man as he ages and becomes fallow.
I certainly didn’t explain it as well as John and I urge you to seek his Book. In which he discusses his discovery of the ruby light of the Shekinah on the high altar of Rosslyn.
